Frankie D. spoke with great passion as he introduced last Monday's speaker, Julie Hurrie of Run for the Fallen NH. Frank reminded the club that none of the freedoms we enjoy in daily life would be possible without the sacrifice of those that serve our country. Julie Hurrie was introduced to the concept of Run for the Fallen when she participated in an event in Maine. She was so inspired she came home to Hampton Falls determined to create a similar event to honor the heroes of New Hampshire. Run for the Fallen NH honors our lost heroes by recognizing those that have also sacrificed, their families. On September 15th, 2013, 70 heroes will be honored. The soldiers pictures will be displayed along a trail in Ordiorne State Park and each family will stand by the pictures of their loved ones. In order to give everyone an opportunity to thank the families and recognize their sacrifice, the event is free and is not a race. Trolleys travel the course throughout the run allowing participants to get on and off so that everyone can complete the course according to their physical ability. All participants will cross the finish line "together in gratitude," American flags in hand.

Frank has proposed and was supported by many at the meeting to help Julie and her team's effort by volunteering as a club for set up and throughout the event. There may be ways the club can help in raising funds as well. Fred started off that effort by donating his winnings from the 50/50 raffle to Run for the Fallen NH.
