EXETER — As long as there's a need for it, a winter job fair in downtown Exeter could become an annual event, according to state Sen. Russell Prescott.

On Friday, New Hampshire Employment Security and New Hampshire Works will team up with the Exeter Area Chamber of Commerce and the Exeter Rotary Club to offer the second annual Exeter Job & Resource Fair. The job fair will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Exeter Town Hall. Like they did last year, the four organizations worked closely with Prescott to host the job fair.

Prescott, R-Kingston, has been adamant during his last two Senate campaigns about getting people back to work and hosting job fairs.

"The response from the community was great last year and it has been great again," he said. "This is a great way to bring government local and help the community with one of their needs."

More than 700 people came through the doors of last year's job fair, according to Prescott.

Gov. Maggie Hassan and New Hampshire Employment Security Commissioner George Copadis are expected to attend Friday morning to give opening remarks.

The job fair is free to the public and available to all job seekers. More than 50 local employers will be on hand with immediate openings available, combined with a series of resource workshops to assist job seekers with resume writing and interviewing techniques.

Some of the employers scheduled to attend are Aflac Insurance, Exeter Hospital, TD Bank, Rite Aid, Foss Manufacturing Co. LLC, Combined Insurance, Welcome Wagon, PC Connection Inc., Citizens Bank, JP Pest Services Inc., Leddy Group, ESGR, SIG Sauer, The Davis Companies, Cobham-Exeter, Teledyne, Maxim Healthcare Services, NAMTEK Corp., Easter Seals of N.H., Reliable Restoration & Recovery, United States Air Force Reserve, Job Corps, N.H. Department of Corrections, FedEx Ground and Wal-Mart Distribution Center.

Positions available include facilities manager, engineers, laborers, sales, collections, customer service representatives, bank tellers, financial service representative, pharmacy technicians, cable assemblers, machinists, maintenance mechanics, industrial electricians, insurance agents, community marketing executives, inside sales account managers, accountants, machine operators, mechanical design engineers, Oracle developers, police officers, and administrative, health care and warehouse positions.

Prescott said if this year's job fair is successful, organizers will "absolutely" hold another one next year.
