Rotarians and Members of the Community:

As we prepare for another exciting year at the Rotary Youth Leadership awards conference (RYLA) I wanted to reach out to introduce myself and invite you and members of your club to join us at camp as part of our new RYLA Ambassador program.

For those who do not know, RYLA is a leadership training program for high school sophomores throughout Rotary District 7780 which covers most of Southern Maine and NH. The RYLA Ambassador Program aims to promote RYLA from those within the district. This will be my 11th year at RYLA, for which I’m very grateful. I've never been more confident in our volunteer staff under the leadership of Jared Avery, our Director, and I’m eager to share it with others. The goal of the Ambassador Program is to inspire and engage others by inviting them to see the work we do first-hand during the week of June 23rd-26th. I've spoken to a number of guidance counselors, Rotarians  and parents over the years and firmly believe that the only way to truly understand the power of the program is to see it with your own eyes. For the first time ever we are formally inviting anyone who is interested to come to camp to learn about the program, see the set-up, speak to volunteers and if you’re lucky even take a swing on our zip line!

We will provide all of the above and more and all we ask of you is to be a voice. Our staff is made up of students, doctors, teachers, executives, fathers and mothers and more and we are located all around the country. Because of this we unfortunately cannot get to every club and town within the district to promote RYLA on our own - we need your help. RYLA has truly changed my life and I want to provide the same opportunity to as many students as possible throughout the district; the best way to do this is with the help of others like you.

We have organized the staff this year to create a more flexible schedule for myself in order to offer you the chance to come to camp when it works best for you. Below my signature you’ll find a list of the best times to come. Ideally you’d be able to commit 2 hours of your time preferably in groups but as long as you’re willing to be flexible than I will do my best to work with your schedule. If interested, please send me your availability and preferred times to join us at Camp Hinds in Raymond, ME. If you’re unable to attend but know someone else who may be interested please feel free to forward along my information – any and all are welcome.

Please reach out if you have ANY questions about the program or the schedule. I look forward to the opportunity to meet you!

Best,

Sarah Leighton
