Four Avenues of Service - Community Service

Community Service is the most active area of service in our Club and we participate in many projects throughout the year:

• We implemented Project Cool Air over four years ago.  We distributed air conditioners to senior citizens who met need-based criteria, with the assistance of Exeter Housing Authority, keeping the residents cool in the sometimes dangerous summer heat. Project Cool-Air has continued over the years to update some of the original systems and distribute addiontional air conditioners.
• For many years we have set out sand-filled luminary bags on Front and Main Streets in Exeter on Christmas Eve.  The event chair for this project this year is Dottie Milbury.
• We donate money for scholarships to adults and youths pursuing vocational and adult education programs.
• We help other local groups such as Salvation Army to collect funds and goods.
• Each month we collect food and money at our meeting for local food pantries.
• Most of the funding for our community service projects is raised through annual events such as our Seacoast Idol, Apple, Pointsettia & Geranium Sales, and Holiday Auction.
